Tonight Kaitlyn tried some rice cereal and breast milk for the time! I was so excited to see if she possibly was more interested in eating food rather than breast milk. I can't say she loved it, but she did swallow a few mouthfulls (hard to believe by all of it running down her cheek).
This was Kaitlyn's first taste of something other than my milk (well, she mostly has tasted my milk on it's way up rather than on it's way down). Not too sure about this stuffDefinitely not a fan, but at least we got a few spoonfulls (and swallows) down first!Katilyn has started taking an interest in our talking. She loves to listen to us talk (when she is interested in us at all, which isn't all that often) and hold on to our lip. Not sure if you can tell, but she has quite a grip on Brian's lip.
Another view, she really is watching dad - it's so exciting when she actually pays attention to us (you can see my trusty breast pump on the couch in the background. Funny thing actually about the breast pump, when the nursing coordinator came to our house last week, she asked Brian: "is that a suction device", Brian laughed and said, "well, umm, it's suction all right but probably not the type you think, it's Liz's Breast pump" In this picture she's blowing bubbles (another new thing she's just started doing the last few days).
Those darn cross eyes again.
Dad "dancing" with Miss Katie while she's being fed via the pump

I've been following your blog for awhile now. While my situation is unique to my family, we have shared many of the same ups and downs since birth. I appreciate your openness about the difficulties you face raising a preemie. Who knew life would be so easy! :)
Holy cow your pump bags are big! I think Halle's only hold about 1/4 that amount!!
Glad the cereal was somewhat successful.
:)
That is wonderful. Go Kaitlyn!
Liz-
Glad to hear you are starting cereal! This is a big step and always an entertaining/interesting one! You may just find that the texture and taste of the cereal changes Miss K's negative oral tendencies. Just remember, it may take awhile...but don't give up hope. Babies seem to change phases just when you least expect it! She may come to love eating! Stick with it!!!

She is getting cuter every day! Love the pictures. We had a great time in Fla and Corinne loves being a gramma and is so very proud of the three of you. I know you will have a great time this weekend. Glad the cereal is working out! Love Nancy
LOL she doesn't look like she likes the rice cereal very much! She's so cute! I love that she grabs your mouth when you talk to her. David loves to watch you talk and he looks like he's really listening to you...but grabbing is something he hasn't mastered yet. That's what we were working on when we got put back in the hospital.
Just wanted to say Happy Mother's Day, Liz. You are amazing.
Happy Mother's Day!
Looks kinda like randie when she first had rice cereal..lol
Happy Mothers Day!!
